Mentoring Program
At Iyengar Yoga Miami Beach we offer a Mentoring Program designed to support serious students who wish to deepen their practice and, when ready, pursue Iyengar teacher certification.
What Mentoring Means in the Iyengar Tradition
In the Iyengar system, you cannot simply enroll in a short “teacher training” course and receive a teaching certificate. The Iyengar Yoga National Association of the United States (IYNAUS) requires that candidates demonstrate a sustained, high-quality personal and teaching practice before they are eligible for assessment toward certification. Certification itself is administered through standardized assessment criteria defined by the broader Iyengar community, based on guidelines from the Ramamani Iyengar Memorial Yoga Institute (RIMYI) in India.
Mentoring in this context means:
- Working regularly with a senior teacher
- Deepening your personal practice
- Learning pedagogical skills over time
- Being guided in preparation for future assessment
Mentoring is not a fast track — it is an apprenticeship rooted in consistent study and personal refinement.
